Complex, with distinctive butterscotch, sherried fruit and peat smoke aromas. The 17 Year old is big, and full-flavoured. Excellently balanced flavours develop slowly, building up to a crescendo of sherry sweet malty tones, and a touch of peat smoke.
About the Producer
Glenfarclas produce outstanding malts and in an unusually wide variety of ages. Experienced tasters usually place them in the top three or four from this most distinguished district. The Glenfarclas malts are at the heftier end of the Speyside line-up, though they are not the very heaviest. The Glenfarclas malts are the strong, silent type: tall, dark and handsome, notably firm bodied, but willing to reveal a sweet side to their nature. They are excellent company at any time and especially after dinner. Glenfarclas means “valley of the green grass”. The distillery is about a mile from the Spey, beyond which the heather-covered hills rise toward Ben Rinnes from which the distillery’s water flows.
