Domaine de la Renjarde is owned by the Richard family, like château la nerthe (châteanuef-du-Pape) and Prieuré de Montézargues(Tavel). christian Voeux is the winemaker and manager of these 3 estates. located in serignan-du-comtat, which is between orange and Avignon, the 40+ year old vineyard combines all traditional grape varieties for the southern Rhône Valley; Grenache, syrah, Mourvédre, carignan, and cinsault. The vines are planted in soils deep in calcareous sandstones well-sited on gently undulating slopes. Grapes are all machine harvested and are fermented in a combination of concrete and temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
Dark red color with purple highlights. The nose is intense and complex with notes of candied fruits, sweet spices, toast and dark red fruit. The palate is perfectly balanced, with lots of freshness, roundness and complexity. The tannins are quite present in both firm and soft and suggest a nice cellaring potential. The finish is very long with scents of blackberry, black cherry and chocolate.
