SILVER - LIQUORLAND INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION 2010 Nautilus Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is pale straw in colour and has a fragrant aroma showing gooseberry, black currant leaf, red capsicum and a hint of dried thyme. The palate reveals lime/grapefruit characters along with more tropical flavours such as melon and passionfruit. This wine has good mid palate concentration and a typically zingy finish. Delicious now it will continue to improve and develop over the next 12-18 months. The 2010 growing season was characterised by a cool slow start but a warm dry finish. This together with moderate cropping levels meant the vintage kicked off at a ‘normal’ time and the majority of our Sauvignon Blanc was harvested over a 2 week period between 29th March and 15th April. The fruit was machine harvested at night, or in the cool of the morning, gently crushed and pressed then fermented with a variety of aromatic yeast strains - the sole aim being to reflect and preserve the flavours and aromas grown in the vineyard. The 2010 Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc is blended from grapes sourced from the Lanark Lane, Opawa, Kaituna and Awatere Estate Vineyards and from selected quality growers. Each of these Marlborough vineyards contributes unique aroma and flavour\ characters to the blend.
