Buller Beverford Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 |
| |
|
|
The Beverford range of red and white varietal table wines takes its name from the sleepy hamlet of the same name in the heart of the Swan Hill Winegrowing Region. Beverford is the location of Buller's winery, established in 1952
The saying “good wines are made in the vineyard” is probably truer of Cabernet Sauvignon than any other grape variety. Of all the varieties, Cabernet grapes need to be fully ripened in order to produce the range and depth of flavours that this variety is capable of. For this 2009 vintage Richard Buller has blended material from the cool climate King Valley vineyards with that from the old vines on the Beverford vineyard.
The wine has a clear ruby red colour of moderate depth with dark cherry red on the swirl. The nose has clean developing aromas of ripe cassis and strawberry with a nuance of warm toasted cashew. The palate is full bodied flavours of blackcurrant and raspberry preserve. Integrated rounded tannins carry through to a long finish of sweet bright cherry and nutmeg.
