Buller Beverford Durif 2010 |
| |
|
|
The Beverford range of red and white table wines takes its name from the sleepy hamlet of the same name in the heart of the Swan Hill Winegrowing Region. Beverford is the location of Buller's winery, established in 1952.
For this vintage Richard Buller has blended material from the cooler Heathcote area (43%) with the balance coming from growers in northern Victoria. The result is a more elegant style but still showing the flavour and firm tannin grip so admired by Durif aficionados.
This wine exhibits a opaque dense crimson colour with a dark purple hue. The nose has developing aromas of spiced blackberry and plum with nuances of coffee and toasty sweet herb. The palate is medium to full bodied with flavours of blackberry, blood plum and bright sweet cherry. Firm upfront tannins throughout the palate balance the fruit flavours, finishing with a good length of dry blackcurrant and warm toast.
