Campbells Shiraz Durif 2010 |
| |
|
|
COLOUR: Deep Crimson.
BOUQUET: The shiraz provides lifted plum fruit and cinnamon spice with the Durif adding black cherry and earthy characters.
PALATE: Deep Crimson. The shiraz provides lifted plum fruit and cinnamon spice with the Durif adding black cherry and earthy characters. Shiraz (90%) is the predominant variety providing lifted raspberry fruit on the palate. Durif (10%) is a small component however makes its presence known with choc-berry flavours, aniseed and fine grained, lingering tannins.
Fruit was harvested early in March and then fermented on skins for approximately seven days. After blending, the wine was matured for approx six months in French and American oak casks.
This wine is well balanced and though ready to enjoy now it has the structure to reward three to five years of careful cellaring. It’s the ideal wine to share with family and friends at a BBQ or with wood fired pizza.
