"Strongly varietal, with earthy spicy overtones to the predominantly red fruits, then a razz of tannins to jerk your attention back to the wine and away from whatever else you were doing or thinking." - James Halliday
5.57 tonnes were handpicked on the 11th March 2008 from Blocks 1 & 1A of our McLaren Vale Amery Vineyards and traditionally processed with open fermentation and basket pressing at the Heritage listed Kay Brothers Amery winery. Aged for 12 months in American oak hogsheads prior to bottling on the 20th January 2010.
Colour: Riich, bright ruby red. Nose: Savoury with lifted briary blackberries enhanced with morello cherry, rich mocha, cinnamon and cloves. Palate: The savoury notes carry through to the palate. Intense with a rich, round mid-palate of blackberries, morello cherries, rhubarb and cigar box. The finish is savoury with a smooth lingering aftertaste and a clean, fine acid & tannin balance.
