'Relatively light but bright hue; a multi-red fruit array on bouquet and palate, the fruit gliding across the mouth; a tribute to Adelaide Hills' ability to ride the punches of hot years. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2017' - James Halliday.
"It’s still relatively young, and it still shows lots of perfumed, sweet, coffeed oak. Arguably too much oak, though the history of this wine is that it sheds that oak if you allow it to reach maturity. Tannin clumps on the finish too; grainy, argumentative tannin – though I wouldn’t say that this tannin gets overtly in the way. The flavours still flow. Sweet raspberries and blueberries and lots of cedar/toast. Needs at least another five years to settle and build complexity. For the moment it’s ripe, smooth, pure and enjoyable – but clumsy. 91+ Points." - Campbell Mattinson.
91% Merlot; 9% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Probably one of the most delectable Merlots in the country, from a barnstorming vintage of condensed fruit in a small yield.
Vivid crimson in colour. Sweet, perfumed aromas of violets, mulberries, blueberries and cassis with hints of sage oil, vanilla bean and cedar. A sweet, lush, fleshy, textured palate with layers of fine-grained, velvety tannins, balanced acidity and great length.
