Olssen Second Six Red Blend 2007 |

"92 POINTS. A fragrant blend of red fruits and plenty of spice; the palate displays a sweet core of bright red fruits, with a soft and generous conclusion; a well constructed blend." - James Halliday.
This wine was blended from the best barrels of wine not included in The Olssen Six 2007. It is a blend of cabernet franc (23%), merlot (21%), petit verdot (19%), malbec (17%), cabernet sauvignon (16%) and carmenère (4%). This virtually leaps out of the glass with its burst of black fruits. It has very good weight, depth of flavour and balance. The wine finishes long and will reward careful cellaring.
Situated in a beautiful secluded valley north west of Watervale, the Olssen vineyard benefits from the shading effect of the steep valley sides, resulting in estate grown wines of great finesse and elegance.
Helen and Kevin Olssen moved to the valley from Adelaide in 1987 and since 1994 have been producing wines under their own label. The range now includes Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro, Primitivo, Late Harvest Riesling, Carmenere and Shiraz.
The Olssens' aim is to produce only limited quantities of high quality wines from their thirty-two hectares of vines. This unique vineyard in its wonderfully picturesque setting is one of Clare's best kept secrets.
