Moores Hill Pinot Noir 2009 |
| |
|
|
Appearance: Dark cherry.
Bouquet: Soft berries and earthy savouriness.
Palate: Fine tannins and soft fruit.
An elegant wine showing lovely varietal sweet plum, red cherry and savoury notes on the nose. The palate delivers with delicious savoury cherry flavours framed by fine tannins and a spicy oak touch.
Winemaker’s Notes: Small batch, whole bunch fermentation, wild yeasts, 40% new French oak, gentle plunging, 14 months maturation and minimal fining and filtration are the philosophical backbone for this wine – we aim to intervene a little to make a wine with a lot.
Moores Hill Estate is a boutique family operated wine producer located in the beautiful Tamar Valley, Tasmania. We specialise in estate grown single vineyard wines of depth, quality and personailty.
Our tiny vineyard is located on a beautiful northeast-facing hillside near the sleepy town of Exeter. Established 13 years ago Moores Hill is an ideal location to plant grapes. The site is at 120m above sea level and is part of a ridge system that rings the valley floor below giving the site good aspect, elevation and drainage. As the crow flies we are 5 km from the Tamar River and 30 km from Bass Strait making us one of the coolest sites on the West Tamar - ideal for the slow and gentle ripening of our precious grapes.
