Palliser Pencarrow Pinot Noir 2010 |
| |
|
|
GOLD: Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
Colour: Bright and full, purple-hued ruby-red.
Aroma: Youthful in appearance, this has a full nose of fresh, vibrant dark cherry, berry and plum aromas lifted with violetty notes and backed by spicy oak nuances.
Palate: A full-bodied, solid and robustly structured wine, the flavours of ripe, dark berry fruit, liquorice and spicy plums are framed within a firm, but accessible palate that is underscored by soft acidity. The serious extraction carries the palate and forms a dry and lingering finish.
Winemaking: The 2010 season had a favorable weather pattern that produced a classical pinot noir. Martinborough Pinot Noir fruit given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., with some indigenous yeast employed, the wine aged 10 months in French oak.
