Bleasdale The Broad-Side Shiraz Cabernet Malbec 2009 |
| |
|
|
A good ol' Australian blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec showing pleasing flavours of ripe Plum jam, Blackberries, Mint and Spice. A smooth warm juicy palate finishes with lingering sweet fruits and velvety tannins.
The wine shows the harmony of the varieties with plum and blackcurrant fruits, typical chocolate character from the shiraz and boysenberry spice from the Malbec. A juicy palate with persistent flavour and smooth velvety tannins. The 2009 growing season started with cool spring flowering, lowering average yields through reduced berry set. Summer was relatively warm and led to an earlier than average harvest period with intense flavour due to reduced crop loads, wines from this vintage should age gracefully.
Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, who arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836. The vineyards are situated on the flood plains of the Bremer river. Frank Potts left behind him a wonderful legacy that continues today. His sons and grandsons have operated and built up the winery, and Bleasdale is solely owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation members of the Potts family.
