Geoff Hardy GMH Meritage 2009 |

|
GMH Meritage 2009: is a Bordeaux Blend consisting of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The grapes were grown at the Wirrega Vineyard, in the Limestone Coast, K1 vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and Angas Vineyard at Langhorne Creek.
APPEARANCE: Deep black red colour with violet hues.
NOSE: Herbaceous wild berries with hints of chocolate, mint and truffle on the nose.
PALATE: The blending of these 3 Bordeaux varieties creates fabulous harmony in red wine. This wine exhibits the balance and generosity of flavour that such a harmonious blend provides, with the fruit sweetness of plums and the richness of blackcurrant and wild berries on the palate. Subtle oak character picked up during maturation enhances the wines appeal.
Geoff is a member of the fifth generation of the Hardy winemaking family. After studying at Roseworthy College, he set out on a career path as an independent grape grower and viticulturist and bought his first vineyard, Pertaringa, along with Ian Leask in 1980. In 1986 he planted the K1 vineyard in the southern Adelaide Hills for producing ultra premium cool climate wines. Since this time Geoff has also planted the 160ha Wirrega Vineyard in the Bordertown region of the Limestone Coast and the 200ha Angas Vineyard in Langhorne Creek. These vineyards were planted in a similar manner to the K1 vineyard with careful site selection and canopy management for each variety.
As well as managing the vineyards, Geoff is also involved in the winemaking and works together with winemaker and ex-chef, Shane Harris at McLaren Vintners to Hand Craft the wines.
