Thompson Estate Locum Margaret River Rosé 2009 |
| |
|
|
Made by the famous Bob Cartwright and from Pinot Noir 100%! NOw that should ring some bells for you all about what is in the bottle.
This rosé is a clear, bright crimson. Aromas of cherry fruit and subtle spice. The refreshing palate reveals more red fruits, balanced by bright natural acidity. The wine is beautifully balanced, with a dry, lingering finish. This drier style is extremely food friendly and will pair well with spicy foods, pizza and summer barbeques.
2009 was another favourable year for both red and white varieties. There were no extremes of temperature. A rainfall in late February had a cooling effect and freshened the vines. While warm and dry during the day, the nights were cool. Fruit ripening leading up to vintage was ideal. Overall, yields were down on average, with intense flavours for all varieties.
The fruit was machine harvested in the cool of the night to retain fruit freshness. It spent minimal time on skins before being gently pressed. The juice was then cold settled to brightness and cold fermented. The wine was fined and cold stabilised prior to bottling. Bottled soon after vintage to retain freshness.
