Evans & Tate Gnangara Shiraz 2010 |
| |
|
|
The vineyard blocks that produced fruit for the 2010 Gnangara Shiraz are located on warm gravelly soils that encourage full, ripe flavours, intense colour and fine soft tannins in the end wine - all hallmarks of our medium-bodied Gnangara Shiraz style. The fruit was harvested over a two week period, which captured the array of flavours present at the various stages of ripening. Select parcels were also picked cool at night and cold soaked on skins prior to fermentation to provide further flavour and textural character in the end wine. On completion of fermentation, the wine was pressed to tank until dry. Malolactic fermentation was conducted in tank before the wine was matured in older French and American oak barriques. After maturation, the wine was blended for bottling.
Colour: Deep, vibrant ruby red.
Aroma: Intensely varietal with lifted white pepper, blood plums and a savoury earthiness.
Palate: The palate is soft and silken with ripe plum fruits and a fresh, richly flavoured finish.
The name Gnangara, aboriginal for underground spring, was inspired by the natural spring which lay beneath the original Evans & Tate winery.
