Paxton Tempranillo 2009 |

|
"They’re doing a lot of things right at Paxton and this modest-alcohol tempranillo from the warm 2009 vintage is one of them. It isn’t hot or big but it is full-on delicious. It has a sweet core of jubey, leathery flavour and an easy-going, even-tempered finish. I love the absence of hot alcohol here. Love the way it keeps dragging you back for more. It doesn’t have a great deal of intensity and some might even find it lacking – personally I find its flavours attractive and its gluggability-factor high. Rated : 90 Points" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
VINTAGE 2009; The quality of fruit picked is regarded as exceptional. At bud burst, the organically loaded soils were close to fully moist, providing an excellent start to the growing season.
VINIFICATION The grapes were harvested by hand when they were balanced and flavorsome. Following de-stemming and fermentation on skins, an extended maceration was undertaken to optimiseflavour. The wine was aged in older oak barrels to ensure varietalcharacters were preserved. Bottled under screw cap after 10months.
COLOUR Medium intensity claret
BOUQUET Fragrant earthy, sage, thyme with hints of stone fruit.
PALATE Elegant, soft, even, smooth with a pleasant earthy structure and lingering cherry flavour.
CELLARING We hope you will enjoy it now, however this wine will increase in complexity and be terrific for up to 8 years
