Attractive straw colour. Immediate impact of intense Muscat, lychees, and lifted confectionary aromas associated with Muscat grapes. The palate is analogous with eating fresh summer grapes. The Muscat flavours persist throughout the length of the palate and sit in perfect balance with the crisp acid and lively sweetness. The light fizz provides a delightful tingling sensation in the mouth and the lower alcohol means the wine finishes with a refreshing feel. It can be enjoyed almost anytime but especially as an aperitif.
The wine is moulded on the great Moscato D’Asti wines of northern Italy. They are technically a Frizzante, a fizzy, lightly sparkling wine but fewer bubbles than traditional sparkling wine or Champagne. The Italian wines are a delight within a wine world often dominated by big bold styles that are ever increasing in alcohol. They are the perfect foil and have evolved on the premise that the intensity of the Muscat grape is best seen by balancing lower alcohol with higher acidity and sweetness than would be acceptable in a higher alcohol wine.
Lower alcohol wines have their own dynamics and it didn’t take long for that to emerge and acceptance of a different acid balance followed.
