"Similar make-up to the Cullen Vineyard, except that picking baumes ranged from 11.5 to 12.2, and only 13% of the sauvignon blanc was barrel-matured; the extra weight and volume of fruit flavour will appeal to some, paradoxically coming from a vineyard that is not certified bio-dynamic. 94 Points." - James Halliday. Colour: Excellent pale straw colour. Bouquet: Attractive lime aromas, with a touch of tropical fruit and minerality that is given extra complexity through the use of indigenous yeast. Palate: Fresh and mouth-filling citrus flavours are complemented by a subtle lanolin character, with a piercing line of acid running through the palate and binding the structure of this wine together. Cellaring: Already drinking very well, but will develop further complexity for five years and live for far longer. Although the Mangan Vineyard had become ten years old in 2006 and was clearly producing very high quality fruit from its gravelly soils, it was becoming increasingly evident that the characteristics of that fruit differed from that grown on the more loamy soils of the Cullen Vineyard. Thus, in 2007, Cullen Wines decided to produce separate blends of the two great Bordeaux white varieties from their Mangan and Cullen Vineyards. This 2010 Mangan Vineyard wine comprises 62% Sauvignon Blanc and 38% Semillon that were picked at Baumés ranging from 11.5 to 13.4˚, with 13% of the former variety being matured in new French oak.
