Rolf Binder Christa Rolf Semillon 2009 |

Not many people realize this fact, often because they are blinded by the hype surrounding Barossa Shiraz, but Semillon from this region is considered to be the best white from the valley floor, and many local brands, including this one, are also often seen on wine critics “best of...” lists.
Christa Deans, white winemaker and daughter of the late Rolf Binder Senior, founder of the Veritas Winery, is reputed to have one of the gentlest hands, and most attuned palates, when it comes to Semillon. Many of the past vintages of our estate-grown Semillon have won multiple trophies and accolades, and Christa is considered by many to make the “benchmark” Barossa Semillon. Christa’s approach to making Semillon is to “bring out the lemon fruit character, make it balanced with no hollows, and make the aroma lift, give it length and use a hint of oak”. The result is a brilliant straw wine with bright green hues. A hugely flavoursome wine enhanced with lemon and lime crispness, hints of vanilla and nuts, followed by a clean fresh finish.
The 2009 vintage earned a gold medal at the highly esteemed 2010 Barossa Wine Show.
