Terra Felix Marsanne Rousanne 2005 |
| |
|
|
"A complex texture and rich mouthfeel; dried fruit aromas and flavours, with just enough acidity to cleanse the finish. Truly original. Wild yeast, lees contact, no oak and reserve wine (older than '05) added as with sparkling wine (quite legal as long as no more than 15% by volume)." - James Halliday.
The wine consists of Central Victorian (red duplex soils) Marsanne. The Roussanne comes from the Tallarook vineyards (ancient Devonian alluvium with quaternary colluvial overlays - a low to moderate vigour site). High solid ferments and yeast lees contact to highlight textural qualities. The wine under went 20% malolactic fermentation and was matured on low level (10%) new oak.
The wine has a yellow straw colour. Enhanced by wild yeast and lees contact, Marsanne has the nuts and honey. Roussanne the citrus hints and blossom perfume. A small portion of reserve wine has been added to give the wine a rich, complex palate and finish.
