2006 Royal Melbourne Wine Show GOLD MEDAL Class 28 2006 Victorian Wines Show BRONZE MEDAL 90 Points James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2008
The Mornington Peninsula has continually produced Chardonnay wines of amazingly high standards. The Maritime Estate Chardonnay has a rich history of winning show class medals throughout Australia. Maritime Estate is planted to the ‘Bernard’ (Cote-d’Or) Chardonnay clones, which produce the most consistent fruit, with impeccably high qualities.
The 2005 Maritime Estate Chardonnay has developed beautifully in the bottle. The cool to mild growing conditions of the 2005 season is very much evident with this bottle age wine. The colour is a light golden appearance. The palate is soft fruit driven with hints of peach and nectarine balanced with a creamy oak finish.
Staff Tasting: Mornington Peninsula is renowned for quality Chardonnay, and this stellar vintage release from a classy winery underlines the point. Packed with apricot, melon and grapefruit flavours, mingling effortlessly with toasty notes and the expert application of oak, the 2005 Maritime Chardonnay deserves a place at every BBQ and twilight meal around the country this Summer and Spring. Guaranteed to impress. Tasters: CN, TE, MM, LC.
"This modest, hospitable cellar door is a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. The driveway hides among the tall trees and descends to a leafy little clearing that smells fragrantly of pine and eucalypt. The secluded vineyard that stretches before the cellar door down to Stoney Creek, is a source of excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made in the best Peninsula style." Ralph Kyte-Powell.
