Tisdall Henry's Crossing Merlot 2009 |
| |
|
|
Merlot (95%), Shiraz (5%).
Tisdall “Henry’s Crossing” range is a tribute to Henry Hopwood, founder of Echuca in 1854 and his establishment of a punt (ferry) across the great Murray River at the point of where the town of Echuca now lies. Grapes have been sourced from Tisdall’s Rosbercon Vineyard, a single vineyard site that has some of the oldest plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon in the region.
Merlot usually plays a support role with Cabernet, but occasionally provides a wine with elegant flesh and weight that is to be savoured. The 2009 Vintage is a wine of this calibre with lifted plums and cassis aromas and flavours giving this wine an instant appeal and drinkability. Soft supple tannins play a support role and help to give balance and poise. A wine for any occasion.
