Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2008

This younger vines pinot noir simply named Crimson is inspired by a love of rata and pohutukawa, New Zealand’s stunning native red-flowering ‘Christmas trees’. The 2006 had a nose of violets, ripe black cherry and spice. Underpinning the vibrant fruit is a supple, fine tannin structure, making this a luscious food wine. It is designed for drinking now, but will also be lovely for at least two to three years from the vintage.
Sales of this wine support the work of Project Crimson, the charitable conservation trust first established in 1990 to protect and plant rata and pohutukawa, then seriously endangered by possums and changing land use. The idea for Crimson to help promote and support their work grew from our on-going relationship with the trust on bush-block rata plantings.
AUG 2007 - Ata Rangi won the business category in the recent Wellington Region Conservation Awards "for an outstanding contribution and for incorporating conservation outcomes in Ata Rangi's business and for nurturing similar projects."
