Mount Fishtail Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010 |

Mid garnet in colour with crimson hues. The nose shows lifted strawberry and raspberry fruits with just a hint of plums. The palate is nicely weighted for the fruit concentration showing typical red and dark fruit characters consistent with these vineyards. The tannins are fine and sinewy which give the wine both life and focus as it tapers to a satisfyingly soft finish.
Hand harvested from the family owned Waihopai Valley and Wairau sites. Soil in the vineyard is of stony silt with loam topsoil and free draining. Canopy Management is vertical shoot positioning with shoot and crop thinning.
Fermented in open stainless steel fermenters, cold soaked and hand plunged during fermentation. Pressed, settled and matured in a combination of tanks and seasoned French oak barriques for malolactic fermentation and 10 months maturation.
