Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz 2007 |
| |
|
|
"Impenetrable colour; deep, dark and inky displaying mocha and an inordinate amount of black fruit; thickly textured and a little tarry, the tannins are plentiful and very fine; monumental indeed, but not the least bit heavy. Rating 94." - James Halliday.
Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is produced from a single vineyard at Coriole that was planted in 1919. The soil and roots are extremely deep and generally no irrigation is required. It was rated as ‘excellent’ in Langton’s classified wines list, making it one of the top 67 wines produced in this country.
The 2007 vintage in McLaren Vale was very distinctive with a more traditional red wine style produced. The nose displays cassis, berry, plum skins and an earthiness seen in many 2007 McLaren Vale reds.
The palate is full and round with notes of pepper, leather and earth. A tight, structural, robust Lloyd Reserve that has long, even tannins and length. Cellar confidently for up to 15-20 years.
