Deep garnet red with purple hues. Satsuma plums, violets, blueberries and blackberries combine with layers of spice, soy and earthy notes. Dusty, toasty oak supports the fruit and adds another layer of complexity.
Medium bodied, polished and focused with lovely fleshy red/black berry fruits. Superfine, savoury tannins provide structure and texture. Lovely balance with good depth of flavour. Finishes long and savoury with subtle dusty oak on the back palate.
The 2008 Twins Shiraz is a blend of fruit sourced from Greenock Rise, Barossa Ridge and Paraview vineyards in Barossa Valley, and from cooler Trial Hill and Old Ben vineyards in the Eden Valley. The result is a combination of vibrant, fleshy fruit supported by spicy textural nuances and ripe tannins.
Maverick’s Greenock Rise vineyard lies in the rolling hills of the Western Barossa; our Barossa Ridge vineyard is situated at the foot of the ridgeline running North-South through the Barossa Valley; and the Paraview vineyard is in between from the Braunack family's ancestral vineyard in Stonewell. The Old Ben vineyard is some 10 kms to the East across the ridge high up in the Eden Valley; our flagship Trial Hill vineyard in Pewsey Vale dominates the surrounding landscape. With growing season rainfall well below average and temperatures well above average, the vines were made to work hard producing healthy fruit of very good quality. Heat waves from December to February further reduced yields. Overall conditions in the Barossa and Eden valleys were conducive to ripening with fruit showing good varietal characters, colour and excellent tannin maturity.
