In 1909 the Thery family founded the caves de la Tete Noire in Provence, with the sole purpose of crafting Top quality sparkling wines under the Methode Traditionnelle. The success of the venture was such that the brand “Royal Provence” gained fame all across Europe. Today, in the hand of the Veuve Ambal group from Burgundy, La Tete Noire keeps this legacy alive, elaborating their sparkling cuvees in the centennial underground cellars.
The Cuvee Clemente is a Brut Blanc de Blancs Methode Traditionnelle, one of a handful of sparkling wines made from 100% Chardonnay grapes outside of Champagne, as very few appellations in France allow for the exclusive use of the grape in Blanc de Blancs. The grapes are sourced in the coolest terroirs of Languedoc , with the view to to make base wines of great finesse. The prise de mousse process is identical to that of Champagne, and with the 9 months ageing on lees, gives the cuvee its creamy mouthfeel and complex aroma.
With Denis Gigault, a Champenois supervising the winemaking, it is no surprise that the Cuvee Clement won a Silver Medal at the prestigious “Effervescent du Monde 2010 ” (sparkling of the world), a competition that evaluates sparkling wines from all around the world.
The Cuvee Clemente will be a perfect accompaniment to your Christmas and summer parties, best appreciated as an aperitive with finger food or just with great company.
