Trepat 80%. Monastrell 10%. Garnacha 10%.
The Trepat grape has enriched the complex palette of Cavas, as it is one of those grapes which best expresses the fresh fruit aromas of the Mediterranean. It is brilliant pink in colour, star bright, with fine, abundant bubbles which lift up to an elegant crown offering us aromas of red and purple fruits, like strawberry, blackberry, redcurrant and raspberry. The palate it is wonderfully lively and refreshing with flavours of rich, ripe cherries and red plums, beautifully balanced with a lovely light, refreshing acidity.
Grape-growing and winemaking have been part of daily life in the Spanish village of Lavit, since the beginning of the 10th. century. Segura Viudas Lavit, first created in 1999, is a tribute to our medieval vineyard traditions and winemaking customs. Our Rosado cava is a wonderful bright fruit medley and a pure expression of the terroir of our vineyards. To create it we blend together five separate base wines, all from the Trepat grape, a variety which is indigenous to the region of Conca Barbera, and which had practically disappeared, until we pioneered its renaissance.
A perfect foil to Italian cuisine: pasta sauces, cannelloni, ravioli and many types of pizza, as well as our own diverse tapas and brochette specialities. Wonderful with mid afternoon tea and cakes, and a perfect aperitif on its own. - Juan Muñoz, Sommelier.
