Intense stone fruit and wet stone characters. Restrained floral and citrus aromatics with a touch of honeysuckle.
Powerful and complex, this mouth filling wine shows delicate but concentrated guava and kiwi fruit characters. A fresh lifted wine with quartz and clay mineral notes. An approachable creamy texture with persistent length and a very pure fruit driven finish.
An expressive fruit driven wine on the nose that opens up in the glass, this wine reflects the uncompromising criteria used in fruit selection, has a purity of flavour and exceptional balance that results in a wine that is focused and intense with layered complexities enabling it to be enjoyed now and for years to come. The wine finishes with length and focus.
Poison Hill vineyard was planted in 1988, this small 1.2 hectare vineyard just on the edge of the Frankland town site is north facing with unique white clay and quartz soils that give the wine elegance and distinctive textural palate. The low slow ripening periods typical of the Frankland region allow maximum flavour developments while maintaining the distinctive racy acidity for which riesling is renowned.
The riesling grape, when ripe and healthy, contains all the ingredients required to make fine wine. Grapes are pressed immediately with the juice left to settle in tank over night before being racked and fermentation introduced. Our aim is to minimise intervention in order to obtain the purest and finest expression of the pristine fruit from the Poison Hill Vineyard. This wine was fermented in tanks at low temperatures (less than 12 deg C) over 12 weeks.
