Pewsey Vale Vineyards The Contours 2012 Riesling is a rich and intensely flavoured wine. Pale straw with green hues, the aromas are intense but restrained with classic lemon and a floral hint influence with nuances of bottle aged toast, clove oil and lemongrass. The palate shows great length and depth with limes, dried rosemary and a hint of lemongrass. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavour intensity.
Awards and Accolades
95 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "Still pale straw-green; this wine is not 5 years old, it is 5 years young. It's just starting to build the lime marmalade on buttered toast flavours of full maturity coming another 5, perhaps 10, years down the track. However, it will always have a delicate disposition."
2011 Vintage: 91 Points - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front "This edition of The Contours is attractive in a fully-developed way. Sweet lime, honeysuckle, spice and lanolin notes parade through the palate, the core of lime doing the bulk of the talking. It’s an engaging wine; it caresses the palate; it’s a good to very good wine, without being anything sensational."
The Producer
Pewsey Vale Vineyard The Contours is characterised by a special site, sensitive vine growing and astute winemaking. The Contours Riesling is produced from old vines farmed on the coolest slope within this ruggedly beautiful single vineyard. Bottle aging for five years before release transforms fresh lemon and floral Riesling aromatics into a complex wine of limes and brioche, with minerality and line.
