This wine display a tropical fruit punch aroma, complete with rock melon, pineapple and pawpaw, which is typical of Sauvignon Blanc at it’s riper spectrum. The aroma is clean, vibrant and intense. The fruit punch and ripe melon flavours follow through to the palate, combined with a touch a cumquot like piquant. A mild acidity and fruit sweetness provide a nice balance, length and finish.
The 2009 vintage was marked by strong vegetative growth during spring followed by a warm dry summer period which saw rapid sugar development and then a period of cool overcast conditions leading up to harvest. Yields were moderately low, acid levels high and flavour development was slow. This 2009 Sauvignon Blanc comes exclusively from our young south block vineyard within the Clairault Estate.
