Cullen Margaret River White 2010 |
| |
|
|
This wine is essentially a replacement for the Ellen Bussell White wine and is made entirely from fruit grown on Cullens own vineyards. As it is made predominantly from the traditional Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, it is bottled in a Bordeaux bottle. However, the wine does contain a small amount of Chardonnay and this has added complexity and a touch of richness to the middle palate, without changing the basic structure of the wine.
Colour: Straw colour with green tinges.
Bouquet: Complex blend of lime, guava and passionfruit and fresh cut grass.
Palate: Refined, elegant and again complex, with great depth of middle palate fruit. The attractive combination of fresh passionfruit and pineapple fruit flavours are enhanced by the mineral texture. This wine has the great advantage of having an alcohol content of only 12% and yet still possesses great depth of flavour.
'Arguably the ultimate expression of Margaret River classic dry white; while the fruit is juicy and zesty, the wine has a restraint and elegance apparent on its long palate, and in particular, the finish. 93 Points.' - James Halliday.
'Mixed tropical fruits and citrus with a little spice and a subtle herbaceous edge. It’s soft in the mouth with a round lightly creamy texture and beautifully pitched minerally acidity pulling it together. It has surprising weight and flavour for a wine of modest alcohol too. Altogether pleasant. 91 Points.' www.winefront.com.au
