The good thing about Sparkling Shiraz is their consistency. There are very few that don't make me smile. At worst they are monstrouns fizzy fruit bombs, which are actually quite fun, particularly as you hover over the BBQ basting and flipping that plum drenched pork cutlets. At their best they can be complex and delicious monstrous fizzy fruit bombs that linger long after each sip and quickly turn from a glass to a bottle. Jip Jip's falls into this second category, I've had this on the table at dinner parties many a times and it is always the bottle that is finished first.
Deep crimson colour with brick red mousse and a fine, lively bead. The aroma displays ripe plums, earthy notes and spice. It has a chocolatey, dark fruit quality about it. The palate is forward and it has good clean acid. Mouthfilling flavours of plums and prunes with hints of liquorice. Soft, creamy with a persistent cherry, chocolate and spice finish.
This non vintage wine sparkles to the tune of a well balanced blend; predominantly 3 year old Shiraz aged in old French oak barrels allowing wonderful smooth integration of fruit and a rich weighty texture across the palate. This is blended with a touch of younger vintage Shiraz to bring ripe juicy varietal fruit characters to the finished wine.

David Lawrason , Wine Align : This is a deeply-coloured ruby red sparkler with a soft sweet nose of black cherry cola/Dr Pepper, a dusting of mocha and some earthiness. It's medium sweet with good acidity and some dryness, even a hint of tannin on the finish. The balance is quite good. I could easily see this washing down burgers on a hot summery day. It avoids the curse of being to cloying.
Susan Desjardin , winecurrant.com ★★★½ Stars 3.5/4 A real charmer, this sparkler is bright and lively in texture with lovely aromas of sweet dark fruit and a whiff of cinammon toffee. Dry and medium bodied, the violet mousse is subtle on the palate and the dark fruit replays - dried cherry, raspberry and blackberry - garnished with some toasty, chocolaty notes. Hnts of spice and cocoa linger on the very berry finish. Flavourful and fun, this is a great wine to enjoy by the barbeque on a warm summer day!
