From its beginnings in northern Bohemia down to this day, for 11 generations and 250 years, Riedel Glass has stood for the high art of glassmaking. Why decant?
French wine making legend Christian Moueix: “Decanting old wines, just a few moments before they are served, helps to ensure that the wines' clarity and brilliance are not obscured by any deposit that may have developed over time. Decanting young wines several hours before they are served gives the wine a chance to bloom and attain a stage of development that normally requires years of aging."
The letter ‘O’ exists in most scripts around the world and throughout history, and even though the lineage towards the English use of ‘O’ is probably from the Egyptian hieroglyph for "eye", it seems that the pronunciation and need for such a sound is universal, so we would have got there one way or another. Fascinating. Riedel’s O Decanter has a pronounced ‘O’ shaped opening through which to pour your favourite wine.
