2005 MT MONSTER SHIRAZ GOLD MEDAL 2006 Cool Climate Wine Show, Class 8 First off, this wine is Big in all respects. 15% Alc/vol and a huge whack of fruit that wears it like a well tailored suit. Watch out for this brand it is already another 'giant killer creeper'. Ben Riggs and his magic winemaking skills produce this wine and on first, second and now third impressions what a beauty! Deep crimson red with brilliant, purple hue. Rich, ripe black berry fruits on the nose with Satsuma plum softness and generosity. Subtle oak use adds complexity and provides the structural framework whilst allowing the primary fruit to shine through. A fruit driven and focused palate, with dark chocolate, berry fruit, spices and Christmas pudding characteristics. Fine, soft tannins complement the fruit and lingering soft finish.
