Peter Lehmann Shiraz Grenache 2009 |
| |
|
|
Colour is an attractive dark cherry. The nose has fresh plum fruits, spiciness, briar, & a hint of gaminess from the Grenache. A beautifully structured wine, it tastes of dark fruits with underlying hints of liquorice & savouriness, and soft tannins.
The 2009 vintage started early with a week of hot weather. Following this, the weather settled down to an extended spell of warm, dry days & cool nights producing wines with excellent colour & flavour.
Selected from premium Shiraz and Grenache vineyards in the Barossa. The grapes were fermented in static stainless steel tanks and were given seven days skin contact. There is no oak maturation because the aim is to produce a fresh, immediately enjoyable wine style.
The youthful freshness of this style makes for a perfect lunch wine. Wonderful with Mediterranean style foods: pizza, pasta and chicken dishes and the perennial favourite, Shepherd's Pie!
