Brancaia’s Chianti Riserva is produced from a blend of 80 per cent Sangiovese and 20 per cent Merlot. The wine offers pleasing blackberry, blueberry and anise aromas. Up front, fruit flavours are of luscious, ripe strawberry and blackberry. Further back on the palate it offers a hint of almonds and a rich espresso note toward the finish. The addition of the Merlot offers a deliciously full velveteen mouthfeel, with a dense, saturated mid-palate that can so often be lacking in a pure Sangiovese. open on your own, you won't want to share.

From the Winery: Brancaia CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA is produced from the best Sangiovese grapes from Brancaia and Poppi and then blended with a touch of Merlot. The wine ages 16 months in French barriques - half of them are new - and matures for a few months in the bottle, prior to release.
BRANCAIA comprises of the three estates Brancaia (Castellina in Chianti), Poppi (Radda in Chianti) and Brancaia in Maremma (Grosseto) - summing up to a vineyard surface of ca. 65 hectares, 160 acres respectively.
These three estates are different in many ways but have one common ground: one dedicated team with a clear philosophy is striving to gain maximal grape quality out of every vineyard – year by year.
Winemaker's Notes
Brancaia Chianti Classico Riserva shows tropical and black fruit aromas, with notes of nut and almond on the palate. Crafted with the finest Sangiovese grapes from two of the estate vineyards, Brancaia Estate and Poppi Vineyard, this wine has a dense, ruby-red color and a long, aromatic finish.
