Robust and youthful Cabernet is a wonderful childlike wine that needs time. This wine is well balanced to drink now with plush cassis fruit and firm but lovely crunchy tannins. An elegant wine with aromas of mixed berries, dark chocolate and violets. The palate is smooth with blackcurrant and spicy oak flavours and finishes with fine chalky tannins.
Put a few away for another day and see how the child matures?
Awards and Accolades
92 Points, Special Value Wine - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Destemmed and crushed to open fermenters, spending 11-15 days on skins, matured for 12 months in new (15%) and used French oak. Bright crimson-purple; you really have to wait until the aftertaste to understand and appreciate this wine: it's in that languorous, medium-bodied Langhorne Creek style, the tannins soft, the fruit fully ripe at 14%, the aftertaste revealing some black olive nuances, a faint edge to the tannins, and a whisk of oak that all add to the package."
90 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front "Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon from Langhorne Creek is an excellent ‘go to’ wine if you’re on the hunt for value. This release is soft at heart but has more than enough dark-fruited flavour and boasts a steady hand of tannin. It’s its usual good self, high in both value and drinkability, but with the balance and structure to see it age nicely over the next handful of years at least – not that there’s any reason to wait; it’s ready to drink now."
SILVER - China Wine & Spirits Value Awards 2015 SILVER - Langhorne Creek Wine Show 2015
93 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "Has the colour of the '12 vintage, and is indeed a most attractive medium-bodied wine with pure blackcurrant varietal fruit supported by cedary oak and fine tannins. Great value."
