Cabernet, being one of the original red varietals that created the region, has been a presence in Langhorne Creek for a long time; you could almost say the residents of the area have it running through their veins.
The Coulthard displays the cassis and savoury aroma associated with the style, as well as dark fruit and a slight herbal edge in the mouth. The texture is silky smooth making for a most excellent finish.
Awards and Accolades
2013 Vintage: 92 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion "An individual parcel selection. Excellent colour; the bouquet breathes blackcurrant fruit, the medium-bodied palate picking up the trail without hesitation, the flavours gliding along towards a long, well balanced finish. Good stuff at this price."
From the Winery
The name Coulthard is in recognition of our ancestors who arrived in South Australia from England aboard The HMS Buffalo in 1836.
Cabernet has a very long history in Langhorne Creek and is one of the original red varietals that established the region. This fruit was grown on ancient alluvial flood plain soil, traditional to this area and as a result of an individual parcel selection, has allowed us to show the pure varietal expression of Langhorne Creek Cabernet.
This wine allows us to show the pure varietal expression of Langhorne Creek Cabernet. It displays a classic ripe cassis aroma with supportive savoury notes. A well balanced palate showing ripe dark fruits enhanced by a silky textural finish.
