This rather powerfully built WA Cabernet may well be the best wine in the whole Robert Oatley range, the wine with a depth of structure that just makes you want to tuck a few bottles away for a rainy day.
Awards and Accolades
2012 Vintage: 96 Points - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion "The purity of this wine comes through with the utmost clarity on the bouquet, with fragrant blackcurrant/cassis aromas, the medium-to full-bodied palate a great example of Margaret River cabernet, the focused fruit supported by tannins that, while firm, are in no way out of balance. The contribution of French oak is obvious, but not over the top."
From the Winery:
Climatically, Australia’s most reliable wine region, not to mention one of its best known, Margaret River is the ideal home for the Bordeaux varietals Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, producing distinctive wines of powerful structure and finesse.
Grapes from the northern end of Margaret River, primarily around Wilyabrup, were harvested at ideal flavour and tannin ripeness, fermented then matured forten to twelve months in French oak from a variety of coopers. A very good growing season has helped deliver well-balanced wines that will develop gracefully in bottle. Enjoy now to 2021 - 2023
