Very deep opaque crimson in colour. A complex nose showing sweet, lifted aromas of red currants, plums, tobacco and violets with cedar, cigar box and anise notes. The elegantly layered palate shows mulberry and sage oil flavours with good acidity and structure that adds finesse to the fine-grained tannins on the long finish.
Accolades and Awards:
Rob Geddes: 96 Tasted twice.Substantial oak and black fruit with extra development beyond the vintage, complex violets, black currant fruit, minerality, malt, light soya sauce, nori roll and tapenade aromas. The plush palate has regional tannin softness with deep long very complex black fruit and the layers of fine tannin which build as they roll along the tongue. Very generous and giving for a cabernet blend and can really be enjoyed now.
Best Drinking: 2033
Rob Geddes MW 96 James Halliday says:
“ An 81/13/6% blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot; French oak (40% new). Dark, dense red-purple; classic density and power, blackcurrant, superb cedary tannins, harmonious flavour/texture; just enough savoury/earthy notes. Best Drinking: To 2039
