This special release from a sensational vintage is strictly limited. The fruit is taken from the vineyards of one of, if not the best producer in Coonawarra and made by Wayne Stehbens for us as a wine for restaurants.

This Cabernet is typically regional and let's be honest, what's not to love about a Coonawarra Cabernet? Beautifully bright in the glass and crimson dark bulls blood red, this cool climate dark cassis and leather and spice are lifted with a hint of regional mint all siting beautifully with blackcurrant fruit in this classically structured Cabernet.
Plenty of depth of flavour, developed structure and perfect acidity this wine is excellent now and will develop further in the bottle as the lovely supple tannins add persistent length. Ripper with a leg of lamb!

Notes from the winery:
Colour: Deep ruby red with purple tinges.
Nose: An intense nose of blackcurrant and red fruits with lifted mint characters. The small amount of oak maturation lends deft notes of toast and sweet spice to the fruit aromas.
Palate: The well-structured palate expresses sweet berry fruit and light oak flavours. Ripe dark berries, plum and dusty mulberry characters abound with a hint of regional mint highlighting the lush palate flavours. Fine grained soft tannins add to the attractive lingering fruit.
Awards & Accolades:
"By no means is this new Coonawarra cabernet is a blockbuster. Like recent vintages its very approachable with minimum oak treatment, soft and supple, textured and easy drinking with sweet black fruit flavours, a hint of mint and juicy tannins." - Kerry Skinner, Illawarra Mercury

"A respected name from SA’s Coonawarra, our top cabernet district. A rich, fruit-driven style with a whisper of oak." - Ian MacTavish, Better Homes & Gardens.

"Coonawarra cabernet is the thinking persons choice of red wine; rich without being too jammy; structured without being too lean. This is a fruit-driven wine with a palate dominated by dark wild berry characters and hints of blackcurrant with a few minty notes. There is the merest hint of oak influence, sensible alcohol levels at 13.5 per cent and an appealing softness. With nice tannin structure, this has easygoing appeal and would be great with a steak." - Winsor Dobbin Sunday Examiner
