Kilikanoon only produces a Blocks Road Cabernet Sauvignon in vintages of exemplary quality. The 2010 vintage was an exciting one for Cabernet Sauvignon in the Clare Valley; the cooler evenings and warm days creating wines of great structure, fruit intensity and regional flavour. Our Block’s Road is a blend of some of our finest parcels.

Kilikanoon Blocks Road sets out to showcase what low yielding, fully ripened Clare Valley Cabernet can achieve. Selected parcels of fruit were hand harvested from two 40 year old dry grown vineyards in the Leasingham sub district of the Clare Valley before traditional vinification, basket pressing and 20 months maturation in new and older French oak hogsheads.

Inky red in colour with youthful crimson hues. Intense aromas of blackcurrants, cassis and classic cigar box blend seamlessly on the nose, beautifully enhanced with hints of fine cedary French oak.

A well crafted palate, generous in flavour yet elegantly proportioned. The powerful notes of dark chocolate, cassis and French oak char combine superbly with the fine fruit tannins and natural acidity in a satisfying and lingering finish.
