Stelvin closure - NOT CORK. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN! BE VERY QUICK.

I reviewed this wine under screw cap on the weekend and was simply amazed at the vitality still shown in colour, aromas and fruit density we then had a look this morning 3 days later and WOW. A superb vintage release that shows all that is perfect about Cabernet from Coonawarra in south Australia.

This Coonawarra Cabernet displays all the key characteristics you'd expect from the region; an intriguing nose brimming with berry and cassis, the palate awash with juicy, full flavoured fruit sweetness. Extended maturation in new French oak provides good balance to the wine, and the tannin profile continues to make this a sensational wine for special drinking with really close friends or family - DON'T waste it on the great unwashed or hangers on as it is simply too bloomin' good.

This vintage is sealed under stelvin, ensuring quality has been maintained. Sensational value to be enjoyed within the next 1-2 years!

Awards and Accolades

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
"Medium red-purple; a leafy berry bouquet does not set the pulse racing, but the palate shows very clever winemaking, delicate, with the quite obvious sweetness balanced by the other flavours. Top drawer cellar door style."

☆☆☆☆ - Winestate Magazine
"Lifted minty aromas in concert with violet florals and ripe plum notes. Delivers a gratifying flavour impact in a medium-bodied style with dark berry fruits, charry oak and eucalyptus."

Paul Ippolito, Sydney Independent Wine Writer
"Ladbroke Grove Wines have been catching my eye and palate as they produce some excellent Coonawarra wines. A family business owned and managed by John Cox and Marie Valenzuela, the focus is on producing premium and super-premium red and white wines from the internationally famous Coonawarra wine district. This is one of their best red wines and is indicative of the quality of the fruit that is derived from the Coonawarra region especially in very good years such as 2002. Opulently purple crimson in colour, the wine exudes a glorious aroma of rich aromatic juicy blackcurrants as well as ripe plums. Delivered in a smooth rich manner on the palate with the blackcurrant flavours again dominating with well rounded mouth filling characters. This will go the distance with at least 5-7 years plus ahead of it. Have with roast beef. Very well priced at $28."
