Excellent colour- medium density crimson and nice magenta edges. Black currant and vanilla, soft, toasty oak character and just a hint of Cabernet stalkiness. Small ripe berries produced good varietal distinction and a generous, rich and fine tannin structure. This wine has plenty of cassis and spicy, almost peppery flavours.

From the Winery:
The Reschke Vitulus is a vibrant Coonawarra Cabernet crafted to drink well at release and reward the patient from a short stay in the cellar. Its good level of natural acidity will see this wine ageing slowly and gracefully resulting in even greater complexity and the development of cigarbox and chocolately characters.
Following malolactic ferment the wines were racked to small oak barrels. The wine spent 24 months in 25% first use French oak hogsheads and 75% second use and older French and American barriques and hogsheads. Rackings were carried out in the first year and second winters to help clarify the wine and soften its structure.
Reschke wines guard the true essence of the Coonawarra. A responsibility they take seriously and with pride. Blending a heritage in the finest Cabernet growing landscape of Australia with a strictly managed vineyard, they allow the Coonawarra to express its distinctive allure. Reschke takes great pride in the attention to detail that sets them apart and brings pleasure to lovers of wine.
Reschke's premium, low yielding vineyards are located on the unique Terra Rossa soils, 7 kilometres north-east of the township of Coonawarra, in the Lower South East of South Australia
The vineyard holdings of 360 acres, consist primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, there is also a selection of Merlot, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
