Carmel's sweet, sacramental wines are sold all over the world.
Jewish communities, both in Israel & in over 40 countries, use them to make kiddush.
The wines are made from Carignan grapes and exhibit the intense fruit this variety is known for.
The King David exported wines are made 100% from grapes with no added sugar - the sweetness is derived from blending with a mistelle.
The Carmel Winery was founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild.
Medium weight. Sienna brown colour. The nose displays some caramel, rancio aromas with a slightly nutty background. The palate is straightforward - sweet, with hints of rancio. Clean finish. The wine bares some resemblance to a light sweet tawny port or a Greek Mavrvodaphne
