The Blue Pyrenees is an excellent region for merlot, containing the unique conditions required for the production of consistent and distinctive high quality Merlot.
A rich ruby red with purple hue, smells of violets, red berries along with regional mint and French oak engulf the senses as you open the bottle. On the palate vibrant plum-like fruits are complemented by forest floor flavours of mint leaves, earth and cedar wood. A medium bodied wine, the firm structure and fine grain tannins of the 2015 vintage make this a particularly memorable vintage, inviting immediate drinking, however cellaring will allow the flavours to develop over the next 10 years.

From the Winery
The Victorian Pyrenees region is one of the few regions in Australia capable of producing consistent and distinctive high quality Merlot. The grape growing season provided winter rains, a cool spring, then a warm dry summer / autumn, easily ripening low cropping red grapes.
Displaying definitive varietal and regional character, this wine was produced from selected parcels of grapes sourced only from our estate vineyard. The Blue Pyrenees Merlot was fermented over 1 week in traditional 15-tonne static fermenters, followed by a 1 week extended maceration on skins in the fermenter before pressing and subsequent maturation for 18 months in mature French oak barriques.
