From The Winery
Grapes were harvested during the cool of the morning and crushed immediately into fermenters. During the five day fermentation, the wine was pumped over four times a day to maximise flavour and colour extraction. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was then pressed off into a mixture of French and American oak and allowed to mature for a period of nine months.
Upon the completion of maturation, selected parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were blended together to form this traditional Bordeaux blend that expresses both grape varieties whilst combing to create a wine of richness and balance. The final wine was then lightly fined before bottling.
Colour: Vibrant crimson with purple hues.
Aroma: Fruit aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and liquorice and enhanced with subtle hint of vanilla oak.
Palate: Soft with subtle tannin and well weighted fruit flavours of plum and cassis flowing through. Balanced out with a sweet oak finish.
Reviews
88 Points - James Halliday, The Wine Companion "McWilliam's is a long-term sinner in radically over-delivering at its price point, as it does here; the wine has clearly defined varietal characteristics of each of the two varieties, and a savoury/foresty finish that is 100% correct, but may confuse the regular consumer of wines at this price."
