"Raspberry, red cherry, light perfume of sweet herb and vanilla with a dab of spice. Light bodied, bright raspberry fruit, a little juiciness, but comes over non-sweet – almost mineral you might say – then some open grained tannin on a decent finish. Twist of dried herb in the aftertaste. Nicely turned out a modestly priced wine."

"This is beautifully ripe and fragrant on the nose displaying dark cherry, plum, cured meat and nutty characters. The palate is succulent and rounded with excellent fruit weight, beautifully framed by fine, delicate tannins. Lovely balance and harmony, this is a very attractive pinot from the Southern France."

The vineyards of the Aude Valley are planted in the foothills of the Pyrenees, alongside the river that flows down to join the Canal du Midi at Carcassonne. The 20-year-old, low-yielding vineyards benefit from high elevation and cool evenings to create elegant and varietally expressive wines.

Hand picked into small bins before a total de-stemming and long, cool maceration. Fermented in open stainless steel tanks before partial maturation in two and three year old French oak for six months.

As in much of Europe, 2015 was an outstanding vintage in the south of France. Winter and spring were very wet, ensuring excellent soil moisture levels before a hot, dry summer. A moderate but clear Autumn ensured steady ripening and cool nights courtesy of the clear skies allowed the retention of freshness and natural acidity. Although yields were a touch low, the wines are fantastic with lovely aromatics, excellent depth of flavour and vibrant acidity.
