The volcanic soil in which this wine is grown and named for has created the ideal conditions for high quality grapes. This quality is reflected in the supple elegance of the wine which features supple flavours of cherry and plum fruits over a light dry mouth feel.
From the Winery
Much of Australia’s premier winegrowing regions were profoundly influenced by volcanic activity of many millennia ago. “Chain of Fire” is the experts’ term for a series of extinct volcanoes. Rich volcanic soils create ideal conditions for the growth of high quality grapes which we celebrate in this label featuring a blacksmith - in tribute to Vulcan, the Roman God of Volcanoes, a supremely skilled artisan whose metal-working forge was a volcano.
Harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented on skins at cool-moderate temperature. We have kept the oak influence to a minimum, allowing the vibrant fruit characters to remain to the fore.
